Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is a holistic system of medicine that originated in ancient China. It encompasses various modalities such as acupuncture, herbal medicine, massage (tui na), dietary therapy, and qigong to promote health and treat illness by restoring balance within the body.
TCM views the body as an interconnected system where health is maintained by achieving balance, whereas Western medicine often focuses on treating specific symptoms or diseases using drugs or surgery.
TCM is based on principles such as yin and yang, the Five Elements (Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal, Water), Qi (vital energy), and the concept of meridians through which Qi flows.
TCM can address a wide range of conditions, including but not limited to pain, digestive disorders, respiratory issues, stress-related disorders, hormonal imbalances, and neurological conditions.
Acupuncture involves inserting thin needles into specific points on the body to stimulate Qi flow and restore balance. It is believed to regulate the body's energy flow and promote natural healing processes.
